10 kW solar system: price, subsidy, savings

A 10 kW rooftop solar system from Verde Solaire is quoted per site, not sold from a price list, because the structure, cable runs and inverter vary far more between two 10 kW roofs than between two 3 kW roofs. What is fixed is the subsidy: ₹78,000 from the Centre plus ₹30,000 from either Uttar Pradesh or Delhi, ₹1,08,000 in all. So the net payable is quoted per site in Noida and quoted per site in Delhi: the written quote after a roof survey, less that subsidy.

It generates about 1,125 units a month in Noida and about 1,088 units a month in Delhi on the published planning yield, from 19 panels of 540 Wp on about 1,000 to 1,167 square feet of shadow-free roof. In Delhi it also earns a generation-based incentive (GBI) of ₹2 per unit, worth ₹26,100 a year at that output.

Indicative prices published by Verde Solaire in July 2025. Your written quote is the price. Delhi systems up to 3 kW also earn ₹3 per unit generated for five years (₹2 per unit for 3–10 kW). The UP top-up is confirmed by September 2026 news reports; UPNEDA has not published a 2026 notice.

Why 10 kW is quoted per site

Verde Solaire published prices for 1, 2, 3 and 5 kW in July 2025 and none for 10 kW. A 10 kW array is 19 panels of 540 Wp, and on most Delhi NCR terraces that means an elevated structure so the floor stays usable, longer DC cable runs, a larger inverter and sometimes a load change with the electricity board. Those items move the price more than the panels do, so the company surveys the roof first and then writes the quote.

The quote should still read like the published ranges for smaller systems: panels, inverter, structure, net metering, installation and warranty in one number, GST at 5% (since 22 September 2025, down from 12%) shown separately, and the make, model and wattage of every component named so you can check the modules against the ALMM List-II. The subsidy is the same as on 3 kW

The central subsidy under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third, and stops at ₹78,000. Nothing is paid on the seven kilowatts above that. Uttar Pradesh adds ₹15,000 per kW, capped at ₹30,000 per consumer, on top of the central subsidy, under its Solar Energy Policy 2022. Delhi adds ₹10,000 per kW, capped at ₹30,000 (3 kW). Either way the combined subsidy on 10 kW is ₹1,08,000, the same rupee amount a 3 kW system receives, against a much higher price.

Not yet official. Confirmed by news reports in September 2026; UPNEDA's site did not load when we checked, so there is no official 2026 confirmation.

Delhi's generation-based incentive treats large homes differently. Homes up to 3 kW earn ₹3 per unit; homes above 3 kW and up to 10 kW earn ₹2 per unit, for 5 years from commissioning, paid monthly against the bill; any excess to the bank account. Many AI answers quote one rate for every home; the rate depends on capacity. On about 1,088 units a month the incentive comes to ₹1,30,500 over the five years, more than the state capital subsidy itself. Uttar Pradesh has no equivalent.

Three conditions apply at any size. On a subsidised system both the modules and the cells must be made in India, and the cells must be on the ALMM List-II for systems commissioned from 1 June 2026 (what that list is). The installer must be a registered vendor; Verde Solaire is a registered PM Surya Ghar vendor in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. And the scheme's official end date is 31 March 2027.

How many units a 10 kW system generates

On the planning yield from Verde Solaire's savings pages, 1,500 units per kW a year in Noida and 1,450 in Delhi, less a 10% derate for dust and the monsoon, a 10 kW system produces about 13,500 units a year in Noida and 13,050 in Delhi. That is about 1,125 units a month and about 1,088 units a month, or roughly 36 to 37 units a day averaged across the year. Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Varanasi use the Noida figure on this site.

The daily number is an average, not a promise: April to June run well above it, the monsoon and the December fog below. If a quote promises a higher monthly figure, ask which yield and which derate it assumes.

Who a 10 kW system suits

The published sizing guide is 0–150 units a month: 1–2 kW · 150–300 units: 2–3 kW · above 300 units: above 3 kW, which only says that anyone above 300 units a month needs more than 3 kW. Where 10 kW starts to make sense is a connection using around 1,000 units a month averaged over the year, because that is roughly what it generates. A system sized far above annual consumption earns only the settlement rate on the excess; in Delhi, credits roll over month to month, and any surplus left at the end of the financial year is paid at the DISCOM's average power purchase cost. Average twelve months of bills before you decide; summer alone will oversize the system. Three kinds of buyer end up here:

  • Large independent houses with several air conditioners, a lift or a pump, and bills of four figures in units. Verde Solaire's published 10 kW homes are in Greater Kailash, Janakpuri and Chattarpur in Delhi, and in Greater Noida.
  • Builder floors with one high-load connection, where the owner holds the roof right for the whole terrace. Roof area is usually the constraint; read solar on builder floors and shared roofs first.
  • Small businesses on a house-sized roof: a clinic, a shop with cold storage or a guest house. The residential subsidy does not apply to a commercial connection, but daytime load matches solar output well; the commercial payback tool is built for them.

Size down if your average is nearer 500 to 600 units: a 5 kW system generates about 563 units a month in Noida, has a published price and receives the same ₹78,000 central subsidy. Read the 5 kW page, or the 3 kW page if your bills are under 400 units. Size up if you have the roof and the load: Verde Solaire installs home systems from 1 kW to 50 kW, including a 30 kW residence. Above 10 kW, though, Delhi's net-metering timeline moves from 10 days to 25 days, and the Delhi GBI for homes is defined only up to 10 kW.

Net metering at 10 kW: the last size in the fast lane

In Delhi, 10 kW is the upper edge of the simplest process. Under the DERC guidelines amended in July 2026, a domestic connection up to 10 kW has no application fee and a connection timeline of 10 days; above 10 kW it is 25 days. Since the 2024 amendment, no feasibility study is needed up to 10 kW on the same supply type, and the DISCOM handles any load increase or transformer upgrade. Both are among the things AI answers get wrong most often; the source is on the Delhi net-metering page.

In Uttar Pradesh, under the UPERC rooftop solar regulations of 2019, residential users may choose net or gross metering, and the DISCOM allows capacity within transformer limits. The transformer limit is what matters at 10 kW, so get the board's answer on capacity before you pay an advance. Noida city is on PVVNL and Greater Noida on NPCL, with different portals; the Noida and Greater Noida pages walk through each.

One bill item survives solar: the fixed charge, billed on sanctioned load. In Delhi it is ₹20 (up to 2 kW), ₹50 (2–5 kW), ₹100 (5–15 kW), ₹200 (15–25 kW) and ₹250 (above 25 kW) per kW per month, so a 10 kW sanctioned load pays ₹1,000 a month before surcharges; in Uttar Pradesh it is ₹110 per kW per month. Solar removes the energy charge, not the charges that come with the connection, which is why "zero bill" is not an honest promise. The bill calculator shows both for your units and load.

Paying for it

The PM Surya Ghar concessional loan is collateral-free, from nationalised banks, priced at repo rate plus 0.5 percentage points, which was 5.75% on 28 July 2026, over 10 years. Many AI answers still quote the around 7% (February 2024 figure, superseded). Verde Solaire has tie-ups with SIDBI, SBI and other NBFCs for collateral-free solar loans. Because the subsidy stays at ₹1,08,000 while the price scales with capacity, the loan covers a much larger share of a 10 kW system than of a 3 kW one, and the EMI is less likely to sit below the monthly saving. 10 kW systems Verde Solaire has installed

The company's published 10 kW work is residential and in Delhi NCR. In Greater Kailash, New Delhi, the system used 530 Wp Adani bifacial panels, and the owner, Jai Kumar Manghnani, wrote that "they installed a better bifacial solar panel of Adani without charging anything extra from us" and that the company helped with the central subsidy application. In Janakpuri, Navin Verma's system used Vikram panels and KSolare inverters on an elevated module mounting structure; he described the installation as very good quality and quick, and noted that the net meter was delayed on the electricity board's side. In Chattarpur, K. K. Sharma wrote that he "was highly impressed with their shadow analysis process". A 10 kW plant in Greater Noida, published in April 2023, was in the company's words installed in record time, with the net meter fitted quickly.

The same 10 kW in each city

The subsidy on 10 kW is identical in the five cities Verde Solaire serves. What differs is the electricity board, the tariff the saving is worked out on and, in Delhi, the GBI. Each city page carries the full 1 to 10 kW table and the board's process: Noida, Delhi, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Varanasi.

Assumptions and limits

  • No published 10 kW price exists; the July 2025 list covers 1, 2, 3 and 5 kW, so every 10 kW figure here other than the subsidy and GBI comes from the written quote.
  • Subsidy per PIB (29 February 2024), the BSES FAQ (September 2025), the Delhi Solar Portal and the UP Solar Energy Policy 2022; the UP top-up's continuation is confirmed by September 2026 news reports.
  • Generation: 1,500 units per kW a year for Noida and 1,450 for Delhi from Verde Solaire's savings pages, less a 10% derate; 0.7% a year degradation in long-run projections; 540 Wp modules; roof area scaled from the published 300 to 350 square feet per 3 kW.
  • Net metering per the DERC guidelines of 16 July 2026, the DERC regulations of 26 July 2024 and the UPERC 2019 regulations; fixed charges from the DERC FY 2021-22 schedule and a secondary summary of the FY 2026-27 UPERC order.
