Jindal Prefab, Dharuhera: 430 kW financed

Verde Solaire installed a 430 kW rooftop solar plant at Jindal Prefab's factory in Dharuhera, Haryana, with Adani solar modules and Havells inverters, and the factory paid for it almost entirely on a SIDBI loan: around 95% of the project cost, repaid over seven years out of the reduction in its electricity bill.

The company announced the plant on 30 March 2023 and described the financing on a page published on 2 June 2023. Everything on this page comes from those two posts; where a figure was never published, it is left out.

The module wattage, module count, inverter sizes and annual yield were not published for this site. The ten-year inverter warranty is the 2023 figure; ask for current warranty terms in writing before signing for any plant, as the warranty page explains.

Walkways and a cleaning system

Dust is the main reason a plant in Haryana produces less than its rating suggests, and a 430 kW roof is too large to clean by hand from the edge. The Dharuhera plant was built with a module cleaning system and walkways between the rows, so the panels can be washed without anyone stepping on the glass, and the maintenance crew has somewhere to stand. Paying the EMI from the bill

The point of this project is the financing. Verde Solaire's June 2023 page on savings for commercial and industrial consumers uses Jindal Prefab as its example: SIDBI financed around 95% of the cost over seven years, the factory put in a small share of its own money, and the monthly instalment is paid from what the plant takes off the electricity bill.

The page adds two claims that are the company's own: that Jindal is paying the EMI and still saving on its monthly bill, and that the small equity share is recovered through accelerated depreciation in the first year. Accelerated depreciation is a tax benefit for businesses that own a solar plant; whether it recovers the equity in year one depends on the company's tax position, so treat it as Verde Solaire's illustration rather than a rule. Once the seven-year loan is repaid, the whole saving stays with the factory.

The same page carries a worked example for a 200 kW plant financed 75% over five years. It is not this project and its figures are 2023 assumptions; the commercial payback calculator does the same arithmetic with your own tariff, load and loan terms.

For factories considering the same route

Verde Solaire has tie-ups with SIDBI, SBI and other NBFCs for collateral-free solar loans, and is registered with IOCL, UHBVN, DHBVN, CEL, IPGCL, BRPL and CREST for solar power plant installations; UHBVN and DHBVN are the two Haryana electricity boards.
