NISST Punjab: 20 kW for Central Electronics

Verde Solaire installed a 20 kW on-grid rooftop solar plant at the National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology (NISST) in Punjab, on an order from Central Electronics Limited (CEL), a Government of India organisation. The panels were CEL's own make, and Verde Solaire carried out the work as a CEL-registered installation firm.

This case study is based on A. K. Singh's published review for Central Electronics Limited, together with the confirmed capacity, grid connection and CEL modules.

What was installed

The plant is 20 kW, connected to the institute's supply and to the grid, with CEL modules. It is designed to serve the institute's daytime electricity use alongside the grid.

For scale, 20 kW is the same capacity as the school plant in Ayodhya, and a little more than half the 35 kW system at the college in Greater Noida. Plants of this size suit institutions whose load runs through the working day, which is when the panels produce.

Why the order came through CEL

Central Electronics Limited is a Government of India organisation that also makes solar panels. In this project it was both the buyer and the module supplier: it had the plant installed at NISST, and the panels were its own make.

A. K. Singh's review says Verde Solaire is a CEL-registered firm for solar panel installation, and the company's About page says it is registered with IOCL, UHBVN, DHBVN, CEL, IPGCL, BRPL and CREST for solar power plant installations. A registration of that kind is what a public-sector buyer checks before placing an order with a private installer, and it is the reason the review names it.

What the customer wrote

A. K. Singh's review closes with the two sentences that matter most to anyone weighing up an installer for a government site: "The solar panels used were of CEL make. Verde is a CEL registered firm for solar panel installation and we were very happy with their work."

Part of a wider institutional record

NISST is one of several government and educational plants Verde Solaire has published through its customers' own words. A 147 kW plant at C-MET Pune was ordered through CPWD and built with Emmvee panels and a Delta inverter. A 170 kW plant at a Patna division followed a tender. The people who run the Ayodhya school and the Greater Noida college both wrote that their plants were working well and cutting the electricity bill.

Across all its work the company reports more than 50 MW of solar projects and is ISO 9001:2015 certified. How it approaches tenders, daytime load matching and zero-export requirements for institutional buyers is set out on the institutions page.
